Yumenoshima Park Archery Field was the archery competition venue at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games held in summer 2021. Pico was awarded a contract via a joint venture with Nihon Kensetsu for the provision of major overlay services for the venue, including construction, technical design and build.
Actual construction work began in 2020 but was temporary halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Games themselves running the risk of cancellation. Construction later resumed with the goal of using the venue in the summer of 2021, though the ongoing COVID situation and transportation disruptions caused further schedule delays.
The construction team responded by working in two shifts, by day and night. Together, Pico and Nihon Kensetsu completed the project on time on 31 May 2021.
A distinctive feature of the completed Yumenoshima Park Archery Field are its coloured stands, inspired by the chequered pattern of the Tokyo Olympics logo.
